What are the advantages and disadvantages of PEEK and PTFE?

Compared with PTFE, the advantages of PEEK material are high strength, good wear resistance, high mechanical strength at high temperature, dimensional stability, good creep resistance, and injection molding.

The advantage of PTFE material is its low surface friction coefficient and better corrosion resistance than PEEK material.

The Chinese name of PEEK is polyether ether ketone, and the Chinese name of PTFE is polytetrafluoroethylene. PEEK is a thermoplastic material and can be processed by injection molding. PTFE is a thermosetting plastic, which can only be formed by cold pressing and sintering, and both can be formed by mechanical processing of rods or sheets.

In terms of temperature resistance, PEEK can withstand temperature up to 260°C, but PTFE can only reach 220°C. After the temperature exceeds 150°C, PTFE will soften without any strength, but PEEK still maintains good mechanical strength. The corrosion resistance of PTFE is better than that of PEEK. There is a big price gap between the two. The price of PEEK is much more expensive. In terms of application, PEEK is widely used in aerospace, medical machinery, automobile industry, petroleum industry, etc., PTFE is available Used in lubricating materials, as well as electrical insulating parts, capacitor media, wire insulation, electrical instrument insulation, etc. used at various frequencies.

GZ Ideal has been committed to the field of special plastics for many years, and can perform various molding processes such as extrusion molding, injection molding, compression molding, and machining molding. According to customer drawings and or sample requirements, develop and manufacture injection and compression molds, and customize PEEK parts and finished products with various specifications and wide-ranging uses.
