What exactly is high temperature PEEK polyetheretherketone plastic?

What are the PEEK plastic raw materials in your life? Do you know what PEEK plastic raw materials are?

PEEK (polyetheretherketone) plastic raw material is an aromatic crystalline thermoplastic polymer material, with a melting point of 334 °C, high mechanical strength, high temperature resistance, impact resistance, flame retardant, acid and alkali resistance, hydrolysis resistance, wear resistance, fatigue resistance, radiation resistance and good electrical properties.

PEEK is a unique semi-crystalline, thermoplastic engineering plastic with excellent chemical compatibility.

Parts made of high-temperature plastic PEEK can reach long-term service temperatures of up to 260 °C (480 °F), and it has a melting point of about 341 °C (646 °F). PEEK plastics are commonly used in hot water or steam environments to maintain high levels of physical properties such as flexural and tensile strength. Polyetheretherketone is often seen as an expensive engineering thermoplastic, but many customers are already realizing the added value of PEEK as it can be used to make parts that are lighter, stronger, and last longer in harsh environments.

So now let's take a look at where are the high-temperature PEEK plastic raw materials currently used? At present, PEEK is sometimes used in sterilization cabinets and wireless verification systems, which is quite effective in stainless steel. Polyetheretherketone resin (Polyether Ether Ketone, PEEK resin) is a new type of semicrystalline aromatic thermoplastic engineering plastic prepared by the condensation reaction of difluorobenzophenone and hydroquinone in the presence of alkali metal carbonate with diphenyl sulfone as a solvent.

It is a high-temperature resistant thermoplastic, with a high glass transition temperature (143 °C) and melting point (334 °C), a load thermal transformation temperature of up to 316 °C (30% glass fiber or carbon fiber reinforced grade), can be used at 250 °C for a long time, compared with other high-temperature resistant plastics such as PI, PPS, PTFE, PPO, etc., the upper limit of the use temperature is nearly 50 °C; PEEK resin not only has excellent heat resistance than other high-temperature resistant plastics, but also has high strength, high modulus, high fracture toughness and excellent dimensional stability. PEEK resin can maintain high strength at high temperatures, its flexural strength at 200 °C is about 24MPa, and the flexural strength and compressive strength are still 12~13MPa at 250 °C;

PEEK resin has greater rigidity, better dimensional stability, and smaller linear expansion coefficient, which is very close to that of metal aluminum materials; It has excellent chemical resistance, in the usual chemicals, only concentrated sulfuric acid can dissolve or destroy it, its corrosion resistance is similar to that of nickel steel, and its own flame retardant, less smoke and toxic gases are released under flame conditions, and the radiation resistance is strong; PEEK resin has good toughness and excellent fatigue resistance to alternating stress, which is the most outstanding among all plastics, and is comparable to alloy materials; PEEK resin has outstanding tribological properties, excellent resistance to sliding wear and fretting wear, especially at 250°C to maintain high wear resistance and low friction.

PEEK resin is easy to extrude and injection molding, has excellent processing performance, and has high molding efficiency. In addition, PEEK also has excellent properties such as good self-lubrication, easy processing, stable insulation, and hydrolysis resistance, which makes it widely used in aerospace, automobile manufacturing, electronic and electrical, medical and food processing and other fields, and has broad prospects for development and utilization. Therefore, to choose high-temperature PEEK plastic raw materials, you have to choose a regular PEEK plastic company.
